Behavior

Why is following the investing crowd dangerous?

Crowds often buy when prices are already high and sell when prices are already low. Herd following is a common way to buy expensive and sell cheap.

How StockIT helps you practice this

Flash Sales and Panics tempt FOMO and fear. Correct Buy/Sell follows the event clue (priceImpact), not peer hype. Wrong-direction taps miss clovers - herd brain has a cost.

In-game tip: “Don't Follow the Crowd” — If everyone is buying, prices are high. If everyone is selling, prices are low.

Try it with play money

  1. Open StockIT and tap GEN to refresh the market.
  2. Read the event and compare it with this idea.
  3. Choose Buy, Sell, or Wait using play money only.
  4. Review your portfolio bars and what changed.
